Jelle Zwetsloot - Labour & Education

Jelle Zwetsloot

Jelle Zwetsloot is a labour market and education researcher at SEO. He specialises in performing micro econometric analyses and working with large administrative databases.

Jelle works as a researcher in the department Labour Market and Education. In this department, Jelle is often involved with quantitative research based on the micro databases of the Statistics Bureau (CBS). He is responsible for linking the large administrative databases, processing data, and performing (econometric) analyses. For example, Joost used these micro data in the study ‘Study Programme & Work 2017’ in order to determine the market position of recent graduates from hbo and wo programmes.

In a different study, he performed econometric analyses on the added value of innovation grants. Besides micro data, Jelle has worked with survey data, data from municipalities, and data from the UWV (employee insurance agency). For example, he has used the data from the UWV to explore the income situation of sector plans participants after these plans had been completed (sector plans co-financing scheme from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment). Jelle is familiar with diverse quantitative research methods, such as duration models, matching methods, and panel data techniques.

Besides quantitative research, Jelle has experience with scientific literature studies and conducting interviews. For example, he has spoken with various HR managers on issues of staff policy.

In July 2016, Jelle completed his master’s in Economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with distinction. He wrote his master’s thesis as an intern at the Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis. There, he researched the opportunities for moving up from temporary to steady jobs for the unemployed.
