Djoerd de Graaf has been employed at SEO Economic Research since 1999. As senior researcher in the department Labour & Education he is very experienced in educational and labour market research. Often he leads the projects.
Djoerd is specialized in higher education. For instance he performed analysis on the following topics: drop-outs in higher education, ethnic minorities in higher education, accessibility of higher education and differences between students in Europe. Current research topics include the monitor of the Associate degree and the monitor of removing barriers to entry to the publicly funded market of higher education (‘open bestel’).
Regarding labour market issues Djoerds research focuses on the labour market and careers of people with a science and engineering background. Other topics of recent labour market studies include regional labour markets, wage differentials, low wage economy and the wish to work longer hours.
Another research interest of Djoerd is behavioural economics, reunifying psychology and economics. In his research he applies both quantitative as qualitative techniques.
