In 2007 Rogier joined the aviation economics unit (Amsterdam Aviation Economics), because of his special interest in quantitative decision tools and transport modeling. Since then Rogier has been involved in the development, design and use of various models for airports, airlines and governmental institutions. These models have been used in numerous air traffic forecasting studies, analyses of the competitive position of (hub) airports and airline networks and aviation policy studies. Rogier’s publications fall into a range of categories: academic – both refereed and non-refereed – popular writing, interviews, conference papers and presentations, work in progress and SEO reports. Rogier Lieshout graduated in 2003 at the University of Amsterdam as an econometrician specialised in Operations Research. After finalising his thesis, involving a model with which complex routing problems could be solved, he joined SEO Economic Research. First at the regional and transport economics unit. Here he was occupied mainly with road transport research. Also he conducted various cost-benefit analyses with respect to urban renewal, soil cleansing and the underground bundling of cables.
