Research in the public domain
In order to guarantee their independence and scientific quality, SEO-reports are in principle public (see www.seo.nl/en/publications/reports). Publication enables peer review by fellow economists and allows everyone to assess our independence. Much of our research is socially relevant; publication, then, contributes to a well-informed debate.
Confidential research
Despite this, SEO Economic Research is prepared to carry out confidential research providing the client has well-founded reasons for not publishing it. In such cases, we insist upon very clear agreements with the client. If the report is publicly referred to or cited in breach of such an agreement, for example, then we will proceed to release the complete report. In all cases, we mention the client which originally commissioned the research.
Written pleadings and law suits
SEO Economic Research also prepares written pleadings on behalf of parties in competition cases and other legal disputes. In these cases, we adopt a position analogous to that of a lawyer. Again, agreements are reached with the client about possible publication. If the report is publicly referred to or cited in breach of such an agreement, we will proceed to release the complete report. In all cases, we mention the client which originally commissioned the research.
