Bas Sanders

Bas Sanders joined SEO Amsterdam Economics in December 2025 as a researcher in the Health and Social Policy cluster.

He holds a PhD in econometrics from Harvard University, where he taught econometric methods to PhD students. Previously, he obtained the MSc Econometrics and Mathematical EconomicsĀ from the London School of Economics and studied econometrics at the University of Groningen.

His academic research lies at the intersection of econometrics and international trade. His dissertation focused on how uncertainty and model choices affect counterfactual predictions in quantitative trade and spatial models, with the goal of enabling more informed policy decisions.

Bas has a strong background in large-scale data analysis, econometric modeling, and policy-oriented research. At SEO, he applies these skills to empirical research and data-driven policy analysis in the health and social policy domain.
