Customer focus

SEO solves complex problems and evaluates policy. SEO offers clients a combination of the brightest minds, problem-solving skills based on over 75 years of experience, in-depth knowledge of various sectors and research areas, and a toolbox containing a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research techniques.

Scientific basis

SEO is associated with the University of Amsterdam. We have access to the latest scientific methods and techniques and actively apply them in our research. This enables us to bring clarity to complex issues and resolve questions for our clients. The scientific basis on which we conduct our research leads to socially relevant, independent and reliable research.

People are our asset

SEO invests in its people. Training courses and promotion programmes ensure that knowledge of methods and techniques is kept up to date. Training and development programmes ensure a healthy flow of talent, which is an important part of our successful working method.

Flat organisation

SEO is a small, flat organisation consisting of approximately 70 employees who are strongly focused on content. SEO employees are ambitious and work together on research. Management and supervisors are also closely involved in the substantive work. In addition to our permanent employees, we have a large network of national and international consultants.

Unique location

SEO is located in the heart of Amsterdam, next to the Roeterseiland campus of the University of Amsterdam. This inspiring environment in vibrant Amsterdam gives us access to a large network of knowledge institutions, businesses and public institutions with whom we collaborate or for whom we answer questions. We also have a large international network and carry out assignments for organisations such as the World Bank, the IMF and foreign governments.

Open application

SEO Amsterdam Economics is always interested in motivated researchers with an eye for quality and policy (both starters and experienced) who are looking for a new challenge. If there are currently no suitable vacancies listed on our website, we would be interested in receiving your open application. Sending an open application only makes sense if you are an economist, econometrician or a science graduate with economic knowledge and experience.

Part-time consulting opportunities on a project basis
In addition to full-time positions, we also offer part-time consulting opportunities on a project basis. For such positions, we are particularly interested in experienced researchers with strong expertise in specific sectors, specific evaluation methods, or specific countries/regions (where excellent knowledge of certain languages is an advantage). Currently pursuing or recently completed a PhD
If you have a PhD in one of these fields, or are about to complete your PhD, we are particularly interested in an introductory meeting. Starting researchers
Successful careers at SEO begin after completing a master’s degree in general economics, econometrics or a related field. If you have achieved excellent academic results, are enthusiastic about solving challenging problems and have a drive to discuss these with clients, we would be very interested in getting to know you. Student assistants and interns
Complex empirical research requires support. If you are in the final phase of your studies in economics, econometrics, data sciences or a related field and are looking for a substantive and challenging internship or part-time job, we would like to hear from you. SEO offers temporary positions for interns or student assistants who want to work on research assignments and experience what it is like to work at a research agency.
