Mika Vissers

Mika joined the Social Security cluster at SEO in October 2025 as a junior researcher. He studied economics at Tilburg University, where he obtained both his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree.

Mika graduated from his bachelor’s programme with distinction after completing his thesis about the relationship between immigration and unemployment in the Netherlands. During his bachelor’s programme, Mika has gained experience performing analyses in Python and R. In addition, he has worked with numerous statistical and econometric methods, such as regression discontinuity designs, difference-in-differences, and instrumental variables.

Mika obtained his master’s degree cum laude after the successful defense of his thesis about the effect of information salience on health behaviour in England. During his master’s programme, he has specialised in public economics. In addition, Mika has further improved his theoretical knowledge and research skills.
