A Reappraisal of the Migration-Development Nexus
In this new paper co-authored by SEO staff, we find that the “migration hump” (inverse U-shape between development and emigration) cannot be interpreted as a causal relationship. This means that, in individual low-income countries, development programs can simultaneously promote economic development and reduce emigration.
