The Competition Act in primary health care
The parliament of the Netherlands has asked the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport to examine if it is possible to exempt primary healthcare providers from the Competition Act. This is based on the assumption that currently no collaboration takes place due to the Competition Act. SEO has investigated this issue. The study shows that health care providers don’t always get to meet with health insurers to discuss health care improvements and any associated costs. This leads to dissatisfaction amongst health care providers and plays, to a limited extent, a role in the failure of initiatives to improve health care.
