Wouter Elsenburg

Wouter Elsenburg is a senior economist within the Finance, Regulation and Governance cluster at SEO Economic Research. Wouter has over 20 years of experience in applied economic research in the areas of financial markets and regulation, the housing market, health economics and policy evaluation. He has extensive experience as a project manager at various institutions. In his research, he combines an analytical approach with a focus on solutions that work in practice.

Before joining SEO, Wouter worked at the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets where coordinated the work of a small team that was responsible for analyses in the field of financial stability. There he investigated, among other things, the liquidity risks of the portfolio of interest rate derivatives of Dutch pension funds, advised on risks in the housing market and analyzed the performance of green investment funds. Before that, he worked at the Ministry of Finance, where he advised on the regulation of financial institutions and the handling of the euro crisis. Earlier, Wouter worked at the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis, where he conducted research in the field of financial markets and healthcare, the IMF and De Nederlandsche Bank, where he advised on dealing with financial crises and other financial sector policies.

Within SEO, Wouter leads several projects in the fields of financial regulation and public policy evaluation.
