In a market that works properly consumers exert an influence on the characteristics of what is offered. The question is to what extent this is true of the market for newly built owner-occupied homes. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations commissioned SEO Economic Research to analyse the obstacles encountered by buyers when it comes to influencing the features and quality of new homes and put forward possible solutions. This report sets out the results of the problem analysis and the possible solutions based on them, both for housing developments and individually commissioned homes. The analysis indicates that there are problems in matching the supply of new owner-occupied homes to the demand.
